This is a table of standards related to welding defects and weld joint preparation. The standards are interpreted as follows:
Fusion welding grades
- Standards: DIN EN ISO 5817, DIN EN ISO 10042.
- Interpretation: These standards specify the classification of weld quality grades in fusion welding (such as arc welding, which achieves connection by melting metal), covering requirements such as the appearance of the weld and the allowable degree of internal defects, for evaluating the quality of fusion welding.
Bundle welds grade
- Standards: DIN EN ISO 13919-1, DIN EN ISO 13919-2.
- Interpretation: For beam welding processes (such as laser beam welding, electron beam welding, etc.), specification for weld quality grade assessment, covering weld formation, defect tolerance, etc., to ensure the quality of beam welding.
Thermal cutting
- Standard: DIN EN ISO 9013.
- Interpretation: This standard specifies process requirements for thermal cutting (such as oxyacetylene cutting, plasma cutting, etc.), standards for the quality of the cutting surface (such as roughness, perpendicularity, etc.) and dimensional tolerances of the workpiece after cutting.
Recommendations for Joint Preparation
- Standards: DIN EN ISO 9692-1, -2, -4, DIN EN ISO 9692-3.
- Interpretation: Provide technical advice and specifications for the preparation of welded joints (such as bevel processing, cleaning, etc.), including bevel forms, sizes and joint cleaning requirements applicable to different welding methods, to ensure welding quality.
Basic details of the welding joint
- Standards: DIN EN 1708-1, DIN EN 1708-2, DIN EN 1708-3, DIN 2559-2, DIN 2559-3, DIN 2559-4.
Interpretation: Specifies the basic dimensions, geometric shapes and other detailed requirements for different types of welded joints (such as butt joints, fillet joints, etc.), applicable to both pressure-bearing and non-pressure-bearing components, providing a basis for the design and manufacture of welded joints.
Classification of fusion welding defects
- Standard: DIN EN ISO 6520-1, -2.
- Interpretation: Classify and define defects (such as porosity, cracks, incomplete fusion, etc.) that occur during fusion welding, clarify the characteristics and identification methods of different defects, and facilitate defect assessment and quality control.
Classification of thermal cutting defects
- Standard: DIN EN ISO 17658.
- Interpretation: Used to classify and describe defects (such as cut marks, notches, etc.) produced during thermal cutting to assist in the assessment of thermal cutting quality.
Weldability
- Standard: DIN FB ISO/TR 581.
- Interpretation: This standard covers materials related to solderability, such as methods for evaluating the solderability of materials, factors affecting solderability, etc., to provide reference for the selection of welding materials and processes.
